A) We are getting an alarm system installed ASAP
B) We are getting a dog that barks. Preferably one that also looks scary.
We're meeting a lady from ADT at the house in 30 mins and I'm on the hunt for one of these dogs:

Hopefully they will be smart enough to only attack intruders, and not bite my friends' faces off like this dog:

P.S. My friend Leigh was the one who reported the break-in next door to me after she was driving to work the next day and saw a sketchy man peering in my windows. She slammed on her breaks, jumped out of the car dialing 911 and screamed at the man asking what the fuck he thought he was doing. Turns out he was one of the workers from next door who'd had his equipment stolen and wanted to know if me or Clint had heard anything. Ooops! Still, I'm glad I have such a badass friend.

I don't know. Peering in windows doesn't seem like a good way to figure out whether you've "heard" anything. Sounds suspicious to me.
Maybe he was trying to figure out whether you stole anything!
Let me channel my brother-in-law for a moment.
"Buy a gun, and learn how to use it."
utm - yeah... the owner of the house came by a few days later and pretty much accused me of stealing the stuff (said it was suspicious we never heard anything). he's a real jackass, that one.
natalie - i actually DO have a gun (.38 revolver, "chief's special") and i do know how to use it. i live next door to 2 small kids though so i want to make sure and use every precaution before it comes to gunslingin'. i could pretty much reach out and touch their house it's that close.
Yeah, gunslinging isn't my first choice for conflict resolution either.
